As a mountain bike enthusiast and volunteer with Friends of Capitol Forest, I’d like to express my support for the new Capitol Forest Non-Motorized Trails grant #18-2463. Capitol Forest is huge and one Education and Enforcement staffer for a Forest spanning over 100,000 acres is simply not enough. Adding additional personnel will help decrease illegal activity in the Forest, including target shooting without proper precautions and backstops (a significant problem in Capitol Forest. In previous years the increase of education and enforcement has made a tremendous impact on the safety and enjoyment of the recreation opportunities in Capitol Forest. I feel that grants to continue these programs are an essential part of comprehensive recreation plan that DNR has put in place for Capitol Forest
